AUTOMOTIVE ART – EDC17Prog hardware modification to support
the BOOTBENCH program
Dear Customer,
due to an error of the PCB supplier of Edc17Prog, 2 resistors have been
mounted which compromise the functioning of the interface for the BootBench
program.
Below is a detailed guide to solve the problem without having to send us back
the interface.
With the help of a pin and
another pointed element, pry
one of the edges of the screw
covers on the side indicated by
the photo; The raised screw
cover will come out of its seat,
proceed, pulling out both screw
covers.
Locate the 2 torx screws indicated
with the red circle in the figure on
the side,
unscrew the 2 torx screws,
Remove the side cover,
Remove the printed circuit board
from the case by sliding it across
the rails.

STEP 1 – Removing the screw covers and identifying torx screws.

the BOOTBENCH program
Place the printed circuit board on bench.
Identify the two resistors
marked R53 and R55,
highlighted with the red
rectangle in the photo on the
right.
The area of the printed
circuit where they are
located is that near the
DB15HD connector (the one
where the cable is
connected to the control
unit).
With pliers and soldering
iron, heat both sides of the 2
resistances, removing them
from the printed circuit,
taking care not to damage
either the nearby resistances or the connector.

STEP 2 – Identification and replacement of the 2 resistances

the BOOTBENCH program
Replace the 2 resistors with a
simple tin bridge between the 2
plots,
Attention, make the jumper as
shown in the figure and highlighted
by the red rectangle.
You can also use a small stripped
wire or (if you have them) 2 0 Ohm
resistors 0603.
Place the printed circuit board back inside the shell in the correct position,
place back the side cover,
screw the two torx screws,
place back the two screw cover caps.
